OUR METHOD

FELLA & FETCH TRAINING ACADEMY

OUR METHOD

At Fella & Fetch, we use training methods applicable for all temperaments and learning styles. Our main focus is positive reinforcement while luring, capturing or shaping a behaviour. Just like people, every pup is different and sometimes they might need a combination of techniques to achieve a desired result. Your pup will determine what positive reinforcer they prefer. It can be anything that will make them likely to repeat a behaviour - for the majority of pups that is food/treats, but others prefer toys or even physical affection. We will help you and your pup communicate effectively so you can build a bond based on love and respect for each other.

OUR HEAD TRAINER

Meet the Head Trainer at Fella & Fetch—Giane Pretorius. Giane's journey with dogs started long before her professional career. Growing up with Rottweilers, she developed a deep understanding of canine behaviour and a passion for their well-being. Her dedication led her to spend three years volunteering at Rottweiler Rescue and ReHome South Africa, where she honed her skills in everything from exercising and socializing to training and fundraising.

Upon moving to Canada, Giane wasted no time in pursuing her passion professionally. Starting at Dogtopia Meadowvale inMississauga, she earned her Canine Coach certification and continued to expand her expertise. Volunteering at Dogtales Animal Rescue further solidified her commitment to helping dogs in need.

Giane's role at Fella & Fetch has evolved tremendously over her four years with us—from Canine Coach, to Supervisor, to Facility Manager, to now our Head Trainer. Giane's thirst for knowledge and motivation to grow in her role has never remained stagnant. She underwent four months of hands-on training and twelve months of theory through Animal Behavioral College to become a Certified Dog Trainer.

Now, armed with a wealth of experience and expertise, we are proud to have her leading our Training Academy. With her blend of compassion, knowledge, and hands-on experience, she's determined to help every pup reach their full potential. Whether it's teaching obedience commands, addressing behavioral issues, or simply providing a loving environment, Giane is dedicated to making tails wag and hearts sing.
